Pitto, who was already feeling under the weather before we headed off to Korea, was feeling sick that morning.
While the others scoured the local pharmacy for medicine in the town of Seogwipo-si (a short taxi ride away from Jeju Hiking Inn), I grabbed some breakfast from the convenience store across the road.
I love the convenience stores here, very reminiscent of Taiwan's....except well, all the labeling is in Korean and I had no idea what I was eating.
I was later told by a Korean friend that this was chicken.
After that short trip, we took another taxi back to the guesthouse. There were two famous waterfalls in that area and both were within walking distance from Jeju Hiking Inn, which was perfect.
But first, we decided to make a stop to the tourist information centre, which was around 10-15 minutes walk away.
The weather was cool and we were really lucky it was not raining (the end of June and start of July is the rainy season in Korea).
While walking down a slope, I spotted this signboard, which I thought was pretty funny:
And while looking at the sights on the way and heading straight on towards the tourist information centre, Teresa and Pitto were busy taking pictures behind me and Ah Liang.
By the time we reached the centre, we realised Teresa and Pitto had disappeared.
Not knowing what to do as Ah Liang and I had no international roaming on our handphones (ironically, the two with the disappearing act had roaming), we walked up and down the stretch of shops on the same row as the tourist information centre for close to one hour searching for them, even to the point of purchasing an IDD card to make a call to the missing duo.
Finally the two of them appeared. Apparently, they had taken a different turn at a junction after losing us and turned back to the correct route.
After a short outburst upon finding them, we purchased a ticket into Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, where the entrance was just next to the tourist information centre.
And thus finally, we begin our first official sightseeing on the island of Jeju.
To be continued.......
